Habitare 2017 report
I visited Habitare, the biggest interior and design fair in Finland. It is held in Messukeskus in Helsinki every September. This year 13th-17th September.
1. Habitare 2017 in a nutshell
The idea is very Finnish as a peaceful and cozy home is important in Finland.
2. Muji, this year's main guest
Mr. Kanai from Muji gave a talk as the main guest called the international friend of the year. Muji had a pop-up store and a cottage to show.
Muji was one of the most popular booths at Habitare, and it tells that the Japan boom continues and people like minimal design. At the beginning of November, Muji announced that they would launch a pop-up store in Helsinki during this Christmas season. To the post about the news on Habitare's Facebook page, over 400 people have liked and reacted positively. Muji's launching is longed by Finnish people.
3. This year's features
This year in Habitare, various products, such as furniture, lightings, small items, and textiles like as always, but designs are shifted to minimal and eco-friendly. When I visited in 2015, unique and vivid colored designs were featured and popular.
There were also four more fairs at the Messukeskus, which are for business guests only. Antiikki - antique and vintage art fair, HighEnd Helsinki - Finnish biggest sound and screen device fair, Forma - lifestyle product event for buyers and Showroom - design, visual design, and lightings.
